The solar project is designed to lower Dragon LNG’s carbon footprint
Anesco has powered up a 10MW solar farm for Dragon LNG at its liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire.
The terminal is a LNG receiving, storing and regasifying facility.
The project is hailed as a significant step in Dragon LNG’s transition to renewable energy as the company aims to become a net zero LNG terminal by 2029.
The solar park, designed and constructed by Anesco, comprises 18,500 solar panels.
The energy generated by the solar park will meet around 9% of the terminal’s electricity needs. This will also supply energy to neighbouring businesses.
The project is predicted to reduce Dragon’s Scope 2 carbon dioxide emissions by 2,500 tonnes per year.
Dragon Managing Director Simon Ames reiterated the company’s commitment to developing local skills and employment opportunities in South Wales.
